1. Overview
The places where I was most nervous while giving a presentation were when I presented in front of the vice president of a leading large company in Korea and where I lectured for about 3 hours in front of college students. I remember taking a taxi to give a presentation to the vice president of a large company and praying that I would get into a car accident while on the way. Also, I remember feeling very nervous about how I should meet the expectations of bright college students who came to take my lecture.
Originally, I was not a person who got very nervous when speaking in front of others. When I was in college, I was always good at giving presentations, but after four years of studying in silence at a goshiwon, I developed a slight social phobia and began to break into a cold sweat when speaking in front of others, even in the middle of winter.
From now on, I would like to give you know-how on how to prepare when giving a presentation in front of others so that you can have fun and not be nervous.
2. Data is not as important as you think
Presentation materials must be prepared diligently. However, because there is an absolute limit to time, there are cases where time is spent only on creating presentation materials and you are unable to practice your presentation. Presentation materials can be focused on key words and a concise structure. Don't try to give too much information in your presentation. Rather, it is important to list only key words and try to connect them with your own words. This is commonly referred to as storytelling. The reason why presentations with momentum are good is because they can attract people's attention within the momentum. In the process of turning over the ticket, it is important to think about adding adverbs such as so and so. Using this method, the front and back of the sheet are connected, the connection of the presentation sheet can be provided, and a result that is not at a loss for words is produced.
3. You now have a place to tell stories.
A presentation is a place where many people focus on you. Would it be better for me to be a person who trembles because of the pressure of having to speak in front of that person, or would it be better for me to be liked by saying, “It’s an election, listen to me carefully?”
I always give myself a hint before I get up to give a presentation. I order to look a little arrogant at that moment. Anyway, if I have to say something within a set time, my intention is to make it the most useful time.
Before you stand to present, look down at the audience for a moment and make a resolution that today I will become a medicine seller and a circus leader.
4. Make your audience remember
No matter what the presentation position, there is intention. It is a place where you have to preach knowledge, persuade others, or unveil new products. Then, there should be something left for the audience after the presentation is over. Therefore, at the end of the presentation, please summarize what you said to remind the other party of what they need to remember from your presentation. At the beginning of the presentation, it is a good skill to raise the audience's concentration by saying, "Of all the things I said today, all you need to remember is this." It is also a good skill to start the presentation by saying, "I said this today, and I hope they remember only this." At the end of the presentation, it is also a good skill to say, It will.
5. Conclusion
There are definitely people who are born with a gift for speaking. There are certainly presenters who can sway the audience with meager presentation materials. They love to talk and enjoy talking. However, those types of people often give presentations that go awry or take too long. My innate fear of speaking in front of others can eventually be overcome through experience. Experience matters. If I try to enjoy speaking in the process of accumulating experience, I will definitely become a good presenter.
